CleanShot X is a Mac screen-capture tool that replaces the built-in screenshot workflow with capture, annotation, recording, sharing, and reference tools in one app. The key difference is its quick-access overlay: after a capture, you can save, copy, drag, edit, pin, or upload it without first hunting for a file.
It is useful for bug reports, product feedback, documentation, demonstrations, and social images. Capture a region or scrolling content, mark the important part, then send the image or recording where it needs to go while the context is still fresh.
CleanShot can work entirely without a Cloud account, while its optional Cloud service adds hosted sharing and team features. The feature set is broad, so a small set of capture shortcuts and one sharing route is usually a better starting point than enabling every option.

The optional Cloud account is not required, but it changes where shared material lives. A simpler built-in tool may be enough for occasional captures, while ScreenFloat may suit a workflow centered on persistent visual references.
